Student Growth
STEAM Academy

To align with the new academic year's "Self-Regulated Learning" initiative, our school has launched the "STEAM Academy" enrichment programme for the 2024/25 academic year. Throughout the programme, students will learn interdisciplinary knowledge, including biology, artificial intelligence, 3D design, and electronic engineering. The programme aims to enhance students' hands-on skills by applying technological knowledge to solve real-world problems. Students will experience design thinking and the innovation process, fostering their scientific inquiry skills and creativity. This will help them develop an interest in the STEAM field and lay a solid foundation for future learning.

Course Features

  1. Across Curriculum Learning Combining STEAM and Animal Care
Students will study the living habits of bearded dragons and geckos. Using the scientific inquiry model of "Predict, Observe, Explain", they will simulate natural environments and design and build suitable habitats for the animals.

  2. Application of Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Technologies
Students will learn AI image recognition technology to understand the behavior patterns of bearded dragons and geckos. They will also combine 3D modeling and 3D printing technologies to design intelligent animal care equipment.

  3. Smart Home Design and Implementation
Students will use Arduino technology to create smart home systems for bearded dragons and geckos, including:

    - Temperature Monitoring: Automatically monitor the habitat's temperature to ensure a suitable living environment.
    - UV Light Adjustment: Automatically adjust the brightness of UV lights based on environmental needs.
    - Automated Feeding System: Design automated feeding devices to improve care efficiency.

  4. Showcasing and Sharing Learning Outcomes
Students will present their smart home designs and projects during major school events (e.g. Open Day, STEAM Week). This will provide opportunities to share their learning outcomes with the entire school community, enhancing their confidence and presentation skills.

Meet our new class pet, the Bearded Dragon named '白膠漿'! Students carefully place '白膠漿' into his newly designed habitat.
Students begin designing custom furniture for '白膠漿's new home. Students explore 3D modeling to create innovative designs for the habitat.
Building a cozy and functional home for '白膠漿' with teamwork and creativity. Hands-on learning: Students use Micro-bit to build sensors for the Bearded Dragon's home.
