Citizenship and Social Development of Senior Form: It is a core subject in senior secondary, comprising three themes: "Hong Kong Under 'One Country, Two Systems'," “Our Country Since Reform and Opening-up," and "Interconnectedness and Interdependence of the Contemporary World." It provides students with a platform to explore related topics, helping them better understand society, the nation, and the contemporary world.

 

In addition to classroom learning, mainland study tours are an integral part of the subject, allowing students to witness the nation's development firsthand and fostering their sense of national identity.

Learning Objectives and Skills Developed

(a) Enable students to recognize and understand common issues in modern society, personal growth, and development.

(b) Help students learn about Hong Kong's political structure, community affairs, social issues, and future development, cultivating civic awareness.

(c) Enhance students' knowledge of the Chinese Constitution, the Basic Law, and the Hong Kong National Security Law, fostering law-abiding citizens.

(d) Deepen students' understanding of China's national conditions, encouraging them to care for the nation and strengthening their national identity.

(e) Help students appreciate cultural and natural environments, instilling values such as perseverance, responsibility, courage, and respect for others.

(f) Promote students' psychological and intellectual growth, enabling them to build harmonious relationships.

(g) Equip students with the ability to ask meaningful questions, plan their learning, and actively seek answers.

(h) Develop students' critical thinking skills to discuss and research modern societal issues and propose potential solutions.

 

Teaching and Assessment Methods

  • Teaching Methods:
    Classroom lectures, group discussions, thematic research, reading materials, local/overseas study tours.

Form 1 to Form 3: Homework, class participation, group projects, quizzes, housework records (Form 1 to 2).

Form 4 to Form 6: Public exam-style assignments and tests, notes, reading worksheets, study tour reports.
